First 400 Days – New Chairman

Date: 14th Jan 2021 Author: Scout Websites

It was with great pride that I accepted the role of Chairman in 2019, following an invitation from a wonderfully-decorated Scout Leader in Andrew Shapton – an individual who has experienced various roles and achieved a multitude of milestones within the organisation. Since taking on such a role in 2019, it has been a great privilege to be involved with such a movement, and I am tremendously committed to the development of others and, in particular, young people, within our community.

For over 30 years I have found success in financial services, striving to support others with their individual needs and requirements, and finding the best solutions for my clients. Away from work, I am a loyal family man. My wife and I have been tremendously blessed with 3 children and 7 grandchildren, and we have pioneered a thriving church, which we set up in 2009.

I am extremely excited and motivated for the future, and look forward to assisting in the development of Glamorgan West, namely, in providing a fresh approach to compliance, in initiating a renewed approach to competition and achievement in scouting, and highlighting recognition of a job well-done. What’s more, I wish to aid the development of a sustainable training programme, and the execution of an effective 5 year plan for the association.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
